Troll Dolls are always a popular type of Ugly Doll. Some say they were among the first among the particular doll genre that were decidedly un-beautiful.
| Troll Dolls were first designed by Thomas Dam of Denmark in the 1950s. Those early versions were made of out wood and later out of rubber and vinyl. The early Troll Dolls that were created by Thomas Dam are highly collectible. Troll doll popularity peaked in the mid-1960s and had a nostalgic revival in the early 1990s. Animal trolls dolls are usually very collectible as well as moon trolls, black trolls, and 2-headed trolls. Large trolls (12″ and over) there were designed by Dam are also very collectible. Actually, any original Dam trolls from the 1960s that have their hair and body in good condition are desirable. Gee, just like people!
